Faction standing, prices and statues
Read the eight bands
Each faction keeps its own standing. Hated covers -100 up to -50, Hostile -50 up to -20, Unfriendly -20 up to 0, Neutral 0 up to 40, Friendly 40 up to 100, Honored 100 up to 240, Revered 240 up to 500 and Exalted 500 upward. Each lower boundary belongs to the new band. Normal standing changes stay between -100 and 10,000.
What the normal shop factor means
Before other price changes, Hostile costs 1.50 times the ordinary base price, Unfriendly 1.20, Neutral 1.00, Friendly 0.85, Honored 0.75, Revered 0.70 and Exalted 0.65. Normal Hated pricing refuses trade. These factors apply to buying from a normal faction shop, rather than every service fee or the gold you receive for selling. The shop can add its own prices, and ordinary stocked items round their final buying price to whole gold with a minimum of 1.
Perks and temporary trading effects
Diplomat’s Crown caps an unfavourable standing price factor at 0.85. It can also lift the Hated pricing refusal. Better standing prices remain better. A positive Terroir trading discount reduces the resulting factor again, with that percentage capped at 95. Bard’s Spirits multiplies the remaining factor by 0.85. The Standing display uses this same calculation. A favourable price calculation does not override every other reason a person might refuse to speak or trade.
Why a friendly faction can still be hostile
Direct faction hostility begins below -20. Exactly -20 does not cross that rule. A faction can also become hostile when your standing with one of its listed allies drops below -50. Exactly -50 does not trigger the allied rule. This can happen even while that faction’s own standing is Friendly or better. The faction’s own price factor and the hostility check are separate, so an attractive price on the Standing display is not a promise that its patrols or townsfolk will welcome you.
Standing is only one permission
A town can be hostile for local reasons as well as faction standing. An individual’s grudges and your personal friendship are separate again. Town building permission also checks the kind of structure, the tile and other protections. Friendly is the first ordinary permission band for the listed town builds. Use Plan to read the permission for the actual thing and place you want to build. A high band does not grant unrestricted building rights.
Titles come before new statues
The normal standing reward can grant Friend of the faction when it crosses 240 and Hero of the faction when it crosses 500. These are title awards. They do not create a new statue at those numbers. A new bronze statue needs at least 720 standing and recorded service. A new gold statue needs at least 1,500, further service and time since the bronze award.
Earn a new bronze statue through varied service
The faction’s service record must include at least 3 distinct quest types, service in 2 different settlements, and at least 1 credited hostile-faction elite or boss. Faction quest turn-ins that pay a standing reward record their type and settlement for the faction you directly served. Allied reputation gains do not add those quest contributions. The current faction combat credit can count a witnessed enemy-faction guard or patrol kill, including a boss in that group. An unseen killing does not immediately award that credit.
A new gold statue needs more than standing
Gold needs the bronze service requirements, at least 1 completed chain quest for that faction, and a further recorded milestone. The active milestone routes are a dungeon boss kill credited to the faction at the dungeon entrance, or an artifact-tier faction delivery or rare find. The progress display also lists resolving a crisis, but this build has no active crisis-credit award route. Gold additionally requires a recorded bronze award at least 20 game days earlier, which is 40,000 world turns. An existing statue must still be present to upgrade.
The capital and the next eligibility check
A new bronze award needs an eligible capital and a free suitable ground tile near its centre. The current world’s cities are preferred over towns, then the larger footprint wins. The new-statue check runs when standing or recorded contributions change. Waiting out the gold period by itself does not immediately rerun it, so a later standing or service change can be needed before the upgrade appears.
Existing statues can be defaced and restored
If a standing drop takes you from Honored or better to below Honored, an existing statue can be defaced. Raising standing into Honored or better can restore it. The current restoration path uses bronze at Honored and gold at Revered or Exalted. These restoration rules are separate from earning a new statue, so restoring an old monument does not repeat the 720 or 1,500 new-award checks.
