Cooking and ingredient substitutes

Open a campfire or stove to cook. The Meals list shows the dishes you can make and any missing ingredients. Campfire recipes also work at a stove. Dishes marked for a stove need one.

These dishes do not need blueprints. Cooking checks ingredients in your quick slots, pack and nearby kitchen storage. A successful recipe consumes the listed quantities and makes one dish. Protected ingredients are skipped.

An ingredient group lets you choose between matching ingredients. Cooked meat includes cooked or well-cooked meat, mutton and venison. Cooked fish includes named species. Milk must be fresh. Prepared meals cannot replace table cheese.

Keep seed packets protected

Recipes that ask for vegetables or crops can also consume carrot, potato, turnip or onion seed packets. Protect packets you want to keep before cooking.

Berries of different varieties can fill a recipe slot labelled berries. Fresh Curd and plain vat curds can fill the plain curd slot. For these groups, the kitchen spends the basic ingredient before its substitutes. Protect a stack if you want to keep it.

The Wilds uses Camp work for cooking. Its fire, fuel and work rules differ from the Adventure kitchen recipes listed here.
