People and services
Talk and services
In Adventure, open a person's interaction menu to see the actions currently available. A person without a goods shop can still identify gear, offer work, sing or share directions. Ordinary settlement conversation can be blocked by hostility, sleep, hiding or travelling to work.
Find someone who can identify gear
Scholars, Archivists and Copyists identify eligible unidentified gear for a base 25 gold per item. Service discounts apply. An ordinary settlement Scholar has no goods shelf. The Old Mouth Scholar is a separate shop. New settlement layouts add a Scholar to towns and cities that lack one of these identifiers when a hall, space and capacity allow it.
Ask a priest
Lift a Curse opens a picker for cursed worn gear. Base fees are 40 gold for Common, 80 for Uncommon, 160 for Rare, 320 for Epic and 640 for Legendary gear. Service discounts apply. The current Priest blessing does not restore ordinary Adventure health.
Listen to a bard
Choose Listen to the song while a friendly Bard is awake and available. This grants Bard's Spirits for 250 turns, reducing shop buying prices by 15%. Another request refreshes that effect to at least 250 turns and does not add a second copy. A scheduled Bard's public performance is separate from asking for a song.
Visit a hermit
A Hermit conversation can teach one missing craft recipe. That lesson is recorded separately for each Hermit after a recipe is found. The third counted conversation can give a missing spell blueprint up to tier 2 or tier 3, based on the Hermit's place tier. These visits have no required waiting period. Missing lessons and blueprints depend on what you already know.
Cave apprentices and visitors
Bustling cheese caves have an Apprentice, with a second from tier 3. Ask for a Tip gives a one-time spoken tip. It does not directly grant experience or teach a recipe. An Apprentice with a faction can offer gather work from Neutral standing when a quest is available. Visitors appear from tier 3 and share news about their faction's current war.
Cave porter directions
Bustling cheese caves gain a Porter from tier 2 and another at tier 4. Bumping a Porter can reveal a nearby undiscovered village, town, fort, dungeon or fishing pond for free. Buy Directions costs 5 gold on success and searches villages, towns, forts and dungeons. Both searches reach 800 horizontal and vertical steps in total from the cave's world position and exclude the current cave. One successful hint uses that Porter's offer, whether it was free or paid. No suitable target leaves the offer unused.
The watch and the road
Ordinary settlement Guards, Soldiers and Watchmen use armed guard behaviour. A Captain is created as a civilian, so the title alone does not give the same patrol behaviour. Road Caravan Hands follow a travelling merchant, whose separate shop carries the goods. Wandering Adventurers offer conversation and Ask the way. Use the interaction menu to choose the person you mean.
Older places and individual people
A settlement already visited in an older save can keep its earlier layout. Its people can therefore differ from a newly generated place. Names and appearance also vary between individuals. A role listed here does not guarantee that every place has one, or that every person in that role currently has a quest.
