Pens and grazing
Plan a pen around the ground you want the herd to use, then press Build. Keep a gate in the fence so settlers can get in. A missing fence piece or a held-open gate lets animals stray. Drawing the same pen again can repair its missing pieces.
Assign an animal to the pen and check that it reaches the yard. The assignment gives it somewhere to walk to. While the fence is still being built, it keeps moving and feeding on its previous ground. Removing the pen assignment does not demolish the fence.
Grass is used up when grazed. A depleted patch needs four days of suitable growing conditions to recover, and Frost does not count towards that wait. Give the herd enough grazing space and keep stored feed for cold weather or bare ground.
