Figures in wilderness events

Event creatures have their own bodies

Butterflies, Ember-moths, Marsh-wisps, Toads from Toad Rain, Spectral Soldiers, Wandering Spirits and Pale Mourners are harmless event creatures with 1 starting health and no melee damage. The peaceful Crystal Monument and Travelling Merchants are separate event actors. Their ordinary-looking name or shared sprite does not give them all the rules of a normal wild creature, hostile golem or settlement trader.

Finding and leaving them

These figures come from their named wilderness events, each with its own place, time, biome and progress requirements. Creature counts are attempted placements on dry walkable ground. Roofs, rooms and blocked ground can prevent a figure appearing, even when it has phasing movement. Most are removed by their event's tagged cleanup, checked every 50 turns. Ordinary event creatures can also leave earlier through wildlife culling or night-creature retreat. The peaceful monument and merchants are exempt from the normal distance cull. The monument waits for its conversation, while the merchants have a 150-turn event timer.

Befriend, Talk and damage

These nine event profiles do not offer the species Befriend action or a Beast Whistle companion result. Their local creature rewards are 0 gold, 0 experience and an empty loot list. Event gifts are separate. Bumping the Crystal Monument opens Speak, and bumping a Travelling Merchant talks or steps past according to your setting. A positive damage hit on a Pale Mourner disperses the entire funeral before normal death processing. A positive damage hit on a Travelling Merchant makes the whole caravan leave before normal death processing. The monument and merchants also skip ordinary creature AI turns, so they do not wander off to fight.

Appearance

Butterflies can use three wing patterns and twelve wing colours. Ember-moths use the same three patterns with five ember colours. The wisps and spectral figures use their actual generated colours. Travelling Merchants use clothed individual character figures, while the Crystal Monument keeps its crystal body. Lighting, animation and temporary effects can change how these figures look in play.
