Rails and mine carts

Lay rail, then build a Mine cart on the track. Rail can cross open ground, floors, stairs and doors. It cannot share a stockpile tile. Keep the track close to both the goods and their destination.

A miner can cut track into an unpaved rock floor without timber. Rail laid elsewhere uses timber. Marking rail on a stair extends the plan through the known connected stair column.

Haulers choose a cart when the complete trip is quicker than carrying by hand. They count the walk to fetch it, loading, the rail journey and unloading. A short trip or a small pile may still go by hand.

A gap, blocked rail or a missing cart can interrupt the journey. The hauler may continue by hand or leave the goods for another haul. Check both the track and the walking routes between it and the piles.
