Combining spells

Statuses can react with one another. Melted and Frozen trigger Shatter when the second status lands, while Brined and Frozen leave the target Deep-Frozen. These reactions use up their ingredients, so those same statuses are no longer there for another reaction to spend.

A reaction can leave a status that starts another reaction. Deep-Frozen also counts as Frozen when a recipe asks for it. Each reaction keeps its own range and targeting rules.

The order of your casts matters too. Heat followed by Cold within three turns completes Quench, adding Brined to the target of the finishing cast. The finishing cast needs to hit a creature. Reverse the order and you get Flash Thaw instead. A sequence spends its earlier cast, then the finishing cast can serve as the start of another sequence.

Grand sequences use three families in order, with no more than four turns from the first cast to the third. Heat, Force, Cold makes Fondue Course. Rot, Arcane, Control makes Affineur's Round. A matching grand sequence takes priority over a two-cast sequence.
