Building and managing waystones

Current Build menu preview

Learn the blueprint

Learn Blueprint: Waystone, then choose Waystone from the Adventure building choices. Build it ashore in the open world. A new stone joins your travel network immediately. Raising another stone keeps the earlier stones.

Buy the blueprint

In the full game, Shopkeepers with a tier 3 or tier 4 shop carry one Blueprint: Waystone per stock refresh. Its base price is 800 Gold before the shop’s price adjustments. This is the shop’s tier, which can differ from the settlement’s listed tier.

Pay for the next stone

The base cost is 15 Wood, 40 Stone and 50 Gold, plus crystal. With no player-built stone standing, the crystal cost is 20. With one standing it is 40, then 60 with two, and so on. The rule is 20 times the number of stones that will be standing after this build. Co-op uses the party’s shared stone list.

Leave space between stones

Keep at least 10 tiles between the new stone and any other waystone, including a settlement stone. Spacing counts diagonal steps. A difference of 9 tiles on both axes is still too close. A difference of 10 on either axis passes this spacing check. Ordinary ground, building and settlement-permission rules still apply.

Rename a stone

Open Waystones on the world map and choose Rename beside your stone. Long names are shortened to fit the name field. An empty name keeps the old one. In co-op, only the builder or host can rename a stone. Settlement stones keep their settlement names.

Take down your own stone

Demolish can remove a player-built stone. In co-op, only its builder or the host may do this. A settlement waystone cannot be demolished. Taking down one stone leaves the others standing and lowers the crystal price of the next build.

Demolition returns a small base refund

For an ordinary Adventure Waystone, Demolish returns 3 Wood, 10 Stone, 12 Gold and 5 Crystal. This is one quarter of each base resource cost, rounded down. It does not refund the extra crystal paid for later stones.

Undo uses the recorded payment

Undo can remove a recently built waystone while its build remains in the undo history. It returns the resource-counter share and recorded backpack payment, including planks, stone chunks and crystal shards. Materials taken from nearby containers stay spent. This differs from the small Demolish refund.

World discovery and achievements

Player-built stones do not add to the world map’s Discovered total or the discovered-place count used for Legend statistics. They also do not count towards The Waystone Network achievement.

A stone from an older save

Existing player-built stones stay in the network when an older save loads. If one is still dormant, bump it and choose Attune Waystone. New stones wake as soon as they are built.
