Sloop
Wind and river currents can change your sailing speed.
| Boat tier | 4 |
|---|---|
| Base speed | 4 tiles per turn |
| Maximum hull durability | 250 |
| Automatic launch choice | When you step onto suitable water, the best boat that fits is chosen from your pack and quick slots. Higher tier wins, then the greater fraction of hull remaining. Equal boats keep their order within each store, and a tie between stores favours the quick slot. Protect and Retain do not prevent this selection. |
| Rivers and shallow water | On a world with the newer river network, this hull needs a reach that allows its tier. Steering into that river’s shallow margin makes you wade ashore and put the hull away. Automatic sailing stops instead. Open sea, lakes and older worlds do not apply this river draft rule. |
| Co-op passenger places | 3 passengers in addition to the pilot. Walking the deck and hold is unavailable during a co-op session. |
| Deck and hold scenes | Single-player deck scene: 26 by 14 tiles, including the surrounding water. Below deck: 16 by 9 tiles. These dimensions do not give a total number of cargo slots. Use containers in the hold for storage. |
| Automatic sailing pace | In calm air, automatic sailing advances 4 world tiles over 3 turns while it has room to sail. Wind changes that pace and unused progress carries forward. The separate downstream-current bonus from direct sailing is not added here. Automatic sailing can continue while you walk on deck or below deck. |
| Automatic voyage damage | While the ship is under way on automatic course, each world turn has a 3% sea-encounter roll. A hit removes 1 to 3 hull points. This can happen while you walk below deck. It can also happen on a turn that has not yet accumulated a full tile of movement, if the heading still leads onto navigable water. |
| Field patch materials | One patch costs 4 Wood Planks and 2 Iron Nails. It restores up to 25 hull points, stopping at 187 of 250. One successful Patch the hull action applies every patch your pack can pay for up to that limit and costs 1 turn. |
| Field patch limits | Patch the hull uses unprotected planks and nails in your backpack. Retain does not stop those materials being used. Quick slots and stored cargo are not searched. On the overworld, a qualifying hostile within 6 horizontal and vertical steps in total prevents the repair. That nearby-enemy check is not made inside the deck or hold. A co-op client is not offered this action. |
| Shipwright shelf | Tier 3: 250 gold, stock 1. Tier 4: 230 gold, stock 1. The tier 5 shelf definition has the same hulls as tier 4. Normal settlement Shipwrights use tiers 1 to 4. These are base prices before the shop’s price modifier, and stock before purchases. A town still needs an available Shipwright to trade with. |
