The Five Guilds

The Five Guilds are traditions of cheesemaking as well as political powers. Thymerock belongs to the Hard Guild, Roquelle to the Blue Guild, Grasse-Verdenne to the Soft Guild, Brinehold to the Washed Guild and Fennmarche to the Fresh Guild.

Thymerock and Brinehold form the Rind Dominion. Grasse-Verdenne and Fennmarche form the Compact of Free Guilds. Roquelle remains independent. Each alliance brings together separate governments with their own interests.

The Soft Guild is known for bloomy rinds, the Hard Guild for aged cheeses, the Blue Guild for veined cultures, the Washed Guild for brined rinds and the Fresh Guild for fresh cheeses. The tradition tells you something about a wheel's history. Its recipe and description tell you what it does.
